If you can find any of the exceptional version with 4 sockets early on, you can have a powerful Act 2 mercenary by the time you face normal Baal. It will allow you to use fireball or fire bolt until you go into your actual build. Shop for it in Act 1 and 2 of normal mode. What will help with the mana consumption is the Leaf Runeword (Tir + Ral), which is available at 19. The lack of Fire and Poison resistances can be partially remedied by having Larzuk add a socket and inserting a Perfect Diamond or Um Rune.If you are starting fresh, it will be tough early game as you will be chugging mana potions like beer. Stormshield does not provide defense against Fire or Poison, so when fighting enemies of those kind, resistances should be put into mind. This property is especially useful on higher difficulties, where survival is more difficult. Stormshield also has the ability to reduce enemy damage by 35%, the highest such bonus from any single item in the game.
